The NJV Athens Plaza hotel has been honored for its sustainability practices at the 11th GIFTTS Pineapple Awards 2020.
The GIFTTS (Great Initiatives for Today’s [Tomorrow’s] Society) program, every year recognizes the member hotels of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts that show strong commitment to charity, sustainability, education and social contribution.
NJV Athens Plaza was announced winner in the Sustainability category for 2020, as it stood out for its environmental activities and innovative sustainable policies.
“The responsibility of NJV Athens Plaza on issues related to sustainability is what brought this honorable award to the hotel. Our environmental sensitivity is directly related to our business model. It is a key element of our strategy, embraced by our human resources,” said NJV Athens Plaza General Manager, Mrs.Vana Lazarakou.
About the NJV Athens Plaza hotel
The NJV Athens Plaza first opened its doors in 1980 and was initially known as the Le NJV Meridien, following a cooperation with the Le Méridien, a French upscale, design-focused hotel brand. In 1998, an agreement was reached with Grecotel and the hotel was renamed Grecotel NJV Athens Plaza. In 2009 the hotel began to operate independently as the NJV Athens Plaza. Since its inception, in 1980, until today, it remains in the ownership environment of the Vardinoyannis Group.
